International Market Readiness Workshop for Northern Ontario Tourism Operators

Why should you attend?  You will leave the workshop equipped with a solid understanding of how the ITT market works, potential for new product, the importance of becoming market or export-ready, and a checklist to prepare your business or attraction for success.

Who Should Attend?

This workshop is suitable for any tourism business interested in working with Travel Trade, regardless of your level of experience with this important business channel.  For those new to trade we will cover all the foundations and provide you with enough information to determine whether pursuing Travel Trade is the right option for your business.  For those with some experience with trade, we will explore how Travel Trade works with other business channels, how to define best fit customers and how to find more of these opportunities.

What will I learn?  The workshop will cover:

  • Travel trade foundations – how it works, who are the partners, how does my business fit it
  • How the travel trade can help expand your client base
  • The direct benefits to your business when working with travel trade
  • Best practices for working with international travel trade partners
  • What current research tells us about potential for new Northern Ontario product and opportunities to grow revenue by attracting new, high-yield visitors
  • What it means to be ‘market or export-ready’
  • Discussion and advice around roles, pricing, inventory and operational requirements
  • Insight into development steps envisioned by Destination Northern Ontario over the next 3-5 years
  • An initial self-assessment of your current situation using the market-readiness criteria as a guide
  • A checklist to prepare your business or attraction for success

The facilitators will follow-up with each participant to help determine next steps and an action plan.

The workshop will be facilitated by Tourism Excellence North (TEN) Training Specialist, Eva Gutsche.

What does it cost?  The $100 fee per participant is being sponsored by the City of Kenora and the Township of Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls.

The $100 fee covers the workshop, nutrition breaks, working lunch and a digital workbook
